Celebrity gossip blogger and self-described critic Perez Hilton may be a lot of things, but a stalker?

That's what Lady Gaga alleged via a series of tweets she posted Sunday, after fans tweeted her saying they spotted Hilton inside Gaga's Manhattan apartment building.

"@perezhilton STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" she wrote that afternoon, followed by, "DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? IM A HUMAN BEING"

Gaga has since deleted the tweets, writing Sunday evening that she wanted to "start over" in advance of the world premiere of her new music video for "Applause," the first single off her upcoming album, "Artpop."

Hilton took to his website to issue a statement on what he called "Lady Gaga's lies." The blogger says he's had plans to relocate from Los Angeles to New York for some time, and that he looked at an apartment in the singer's building on Sunday before learning she lives there.

He went on to say Gaga's "defamatory" allegations have put him in danger. Seemingly as proof, he then retweeted several messages from Gaga fans calling him a "pig" and telling him to kill himself. In response, Gaga issued an anti-bullying statement Monday on the website of her Born This Way foundation.

Perhaps most interestingly, Hilton's statement reveals the two former buddies had ended their friendship prior to this recent blowout.

"While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a “stalker,' " Hilton says.

He HAS been especially critical of "Applause," despite being an unwavering Little Monster for the majority of Gaga's career.
