Meet museum staffer Jean Henning on the front terrace.
4. 'Long Island Medium'
Hicksville psychic medium and TLC reality star Theresa Caputo puts on a pair of staged shows in a larger-than-usual setting: NYCB Theatre at Westbury. She'll answer audience questions and conduct random readings.
5. Pumpkins on parade
6. Hear Beatles albums live
Classic Albums Live returns to Tilles Center for two nights of Beatles music in honor of what would have been John Lennon's 72nd birthday. On Friday, hear "The White Album" played song by song. On Saturday, the featured album is "Let It Be" -- get there early for a 6:15 screening of the documentary "Imagine: John Lennon," which is free for ticket-holders.
7. New planetarium opens
It's a big week for the Cradle of Aviation. Saturday, the museum celebrates the grand opening of its Jet Blue Sky Theater Planetarium, which projects real views from high-tech solar telescopes (plus digitally enhanced images) on a giant dome screen. Patrons can choose from three shows ($5 per screening): "We Are Astronomers," "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure" and "Passport to the Universe," a show narrated by Tom Hanks. Special Saturday-only programming for World Astronomy Day includes free-with-admission star lab programs, astronomy workshops for kids and viewing (weather permitting) through solar telescopes from noon to 4.
8. 'Star Wars' reading fun
Reading is out of this world: Lucas Films hosts a nationwide promotion at bookstores and libraries to foster stronger literacy. Activities include costume and trivia contests, giveaways and prizes at local participating venues, including Barnes & Noble in Lake Grove.
9. Bill Cosby visits Westhampton Beach
He's been in the "funny" field since the '60s -- the comedian takes the stage to discuss his lengthy career and current perspective on life.
10. Barrel wine tasting
Mark the fall harvest with a walking tour of the vineyards at Bedell Cellars with winemaker Rich Olsen-Harbich, who will conduct a Q&A in the field. Stick around for a rare preview tasting of wine straight from the barrels along with a selection of antipasti and cheeses.
