Stephen Colbert back on the air

After abruptly canceling several shows last week, Stephen Colbert will resume taping "The Colbert Report" today, according to the Comedy Central website.

Reports last week claimed Colbert halted the show because his mother is ill, though a representative for the show simply told E! News the show was canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances."

Still, Colbert gave a general thanks to fans for their support from his Twitter account.

"My family and I would like to thank everyone who has offered their thoughts and prayers. We are grateful and touched by your concern."
