The breakup: Choosing between 'Eat Pray Love' and 'The Expendables'

This one is for that group of folks that need a 10-day window to plan weekend activities. (Yes, it's true, not everyone operates on a whim or drop-of-a-dime.)

This one is for that group that likes to see movies but doesn't get the opportunity to see as many in theaters as back in the day.

This one is for that group of couples (or friends) who have divergent tastes in movies and never have the chance (or guts) to act on them at the same.

Circle the weekend of Aug. 13, 2010.

A major chick flick and a major action movie open that weekend. Oh no, what will couples do?!?

"Eat Pray Love" stars Julia Roberts and tells the real-life tale of a newly divorced woman who goes on a journey to learn about herself in Italy, India and Indonesia.

"The Expendables" stars every major 1980s action star, a few '90s and '00 action stars, a former UFC champion and a former WWE champ. Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Oh, wait, we forget Mickey Rourke!

Dude, does the plot even matter? 

What a dilemma this will cause in households across America! How can couples decide which movie to see? 

The better question, though, is why choose? Fellas can see "The Expendables" and ladies can see "Eat Pray Love." There's nothing wrong with that. OK, fine, it may cost a few extra bucks because you can't split the popcorn. Just bring a bag with you and split it up after you buy the big bucket.

If your relationship isn't strong enough to withstand going to a movie theater together and seeing different movies, maybe you should question the relationship as a whole.
