Underwood, Paisley to host CMA awards
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are hosting the Country Music Association Awards for a fifth time, The Associated Press reports. Underwood started the online buzz about their return with a tweet Wednesday, saying she was hanging out with Paisley. She joked that she caught him in her makeup chair and added the hash tag #suchadiva. CMA confirmed the news on Twitter and Facebook shortly after with a picture of the two stars during a photo shoot. The CMA Awards will air live Nov. 1, on ABC from Nashville.
Lily Allen changes name, is working on new music
British singer Lily Allen says she is changing her stage name to reflect her marriage to Sam Cooper -- and she's working on new material, The Associated Press reports. A statement Thursday from publicist Ambrosia Healey says the singer will now be known as Lily Rose Cooper, the name she already uses on her Twitter account. She and Sam Cooper married last year, and the pair have a daughter. Healey says the singer has booked time at a studio in Britain to work on new material.
Stewart lands coveted role
Kristen Stewart has been cast in the lead role of an adaptation of William Styron's acclaimed first novel "Lie Down In Darkness," reports New York magazine's Vulture blog, which said "The Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence had also coveted the part. Published in 1951, the novel flashes back on the life of the late Peyton Loftis, a beauty in a dysfunctional family with a crippled sister, resentful mother and alcoholic father. In development for years by producer Jeff Sharp ("You Can Count on Me"), the independent film is set to be directed by Scott Cooper ("Crazy Heart").
