Week five begins, and your three lowest-ranked couples are as follows: Bristol/Mark; Florence/Corky and Kurt/Anna.

Let's linger for a moment on the last pair. The Quickstep returns Monday night for the first time since week two; it's a judge favorite that tends to be rewarded a little more generously than the Jive or Rumba, which really hurt Kurt Warner last week. If he and Anna Trebunskaya can conquer the Quickstep, he could avoid the fate that now appears increasingly inevitable.

If my hunch is correct, the Bristol Palin/Mark Ballas team should continue to dance away from elimination simply because they continue to get most of the audience votes (that is a hunch, born of a little Internet research).

That leaves Florence Henderson/Corky Ballas, who will dance the Argentine tango Monday night. I thought last week's Rumba was an assault on the senses - robotic and cheesy and almost played for laughs. Yet, they got higher technical scores than Kurt/Anna. If Kurt can't make significant strides past Flo, then he's gone Tuesday. He simply won't have the audience votes to make up the difference.
