The producers of "Beautiful — The Carole King Musical" have joined those trying to make life easier for government workers on furlough. They're offering free tickets to the show at select Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday evening performances.

The biographical jukebox musical tells the story of the singer's early life, and features many of her most recognized songs including "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and the title tune. "The shutdown has affected so many government employees in a really negative way,” said producers Paul Blake and Mike Bosner in a statement. “If we can offer those affected by this shutdown a moment of escape and joy, then we feel it is important to do so."

Tickets are available in person only as long as the shutdown lasts at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre box office, 124 W. 43 St., with valid government ID.
