THE MUSICAL "The Visit" with Chita Rivera, looking to move forward

THE DEAL The Kander and Ebb musical "The Visit," which has been produced regionally and has been slated for a Broadway run for more than a decade, is on the move again. Chita Rivera, who has starred in previous incarnations of the musical, told that it is likely to be produced at Williamstown Theatre Festival next summer. If that occurs, and the reviews are good, a Broadway transfer could follow.

THE DEAL The preteen musical "13," which played a short run on Broadway in 2008 and is now being performed at middle schools everywhere, will be adapted into a film, songwriter Jason Robert Brown told WBAI Radio in an interview. He also did the music for "Honeymoon in Vegas," which premieres this weekend at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse, "The Bridges of Madison County" opening on Broadway later this season, and the film version of "The Last Five Years" with Anna Kendrick, coming out soon.

THE MUSICAL "Holiday Inn" to be turned into a stage musical

THE DEAL The 1942 movie musical "Holiday Inn," which features songs by Irving Berlin, such as "Easter Parade" and "Happy Holidays," is set to be turned into a stage musical premiering next year at Goodspeed Musicals in Connecticut. It will have to compete, of course, with the very popular musical version of the movie musical "White Christmas," which also has Irving Berlin songs and an almost identical plot. Both films starred Bing Crosby.
