David Cook is ready to kick up his heels in “Kinky Boots.”

The season 7 “American Idol” winner will make his Broadway debut as Charlie Price, the young man who inherits a shoe factory from his father and forms a business partnership with a drag queen named Lola, in the Tony-winning musical. Cook’s first performance is April 3 and he’ll be with the show through May 5. His casting follows the announcement that Wayne Brady, who played Lola from November 2015 to March 2016, will reprise the role for seven weeks beginning March 5.

This is turning out to be a big week for Cook, 35. His EP “Chromance” drops on Friday, and he’ll perform with alt rock band The New Tarot Thursday night at Manhattan club Le Poisson Rouge.
