THE SHOW "Fiddler on the Roof"
THE DEAL The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s Yiddish-language production of the classic musical — which is currently playing an extended, sold-out run at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park City — will transfer uptown to Off-Broadway’s Stage 42 in February. The production, which is directed by Joel Grey, provides English and Russian supertitles for the non-Yiddish speaking. Steven Skybell, who plays Tevye, and Jackie Hoffman (Yente) will continue with the production. The rest of the cast will be announced later.

THE SHOW "Socrates"

THE DEAL Stage and film actor Michael Stuhlbarg will play the foremost Greek philosopher of western civilization in this new drama written by actor Tim Blake Nelson and directed by Doug Hughes for the Public Theater beginning in April. “I’ve known Michael since drama school, and was able to bring him in to read the part in my living room when the play was only a first draft,” Nelson said in a statement.

THE SHOW “Taylor Mac’s Holiday Sauce”

THE DEAL Mac, the gender-bending, free-thinking, critical-minded performance artist who performed “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music”  in downtown Brooklyn two years ago, will play Town Hall in December with this holiday offering. This new show is a variation on his previous work, which was a 24-hour, decade-by-decade of American popular song and culture. "Holiday Sauce," which Mac performed last year at Town Hall, will focus on just the traditions of Christmas. He will be joined by an eight-piece band and costume designer Machine Dazzle.

THE SHOW "Cornucopia"

THE DEAL “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” director John Tiffany will next helm "Cornucopia" starring avant-garde, Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk. “Cornucopia,” an elaborate stage concert conceived by Björk, will be part of the inaugural season of The Shed, a new arts venue on Manhattan's Far West Side, in the spring. Björk will be joined by a seven-piece all-female Icelandic flute ensemble, plus harp, percussion and electronics.
