WHO Gene Simmons

THE MUSICAL "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark"

THE DEAL Rock musician Simmons (Kiss vocalist and bass guitarist) revealed last week via Twitter that he has been offered the role of the Green Goblin in "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," which was originated by Patrick Page and is now being played by Robert Cuccioli. Although Simmons did not indicate whether he would accept the chance to join the Broadway production, he made a point of thanking Michael Cohl, the show's producer.

THE MUSICAL "Big Fish"

THE DEAL The Broadway musical "Big Fish," which opened earlier in the fall to largely dismissive reviews, will throw in the towel on Dec. 29, its producers announced last week. In a statement, producer Dan Jinks confirmed his belief that the show will live on in future productions. It is generally assumed that another show will now open at the Neil Simon Theatre before the end of the season.

WHO Alanis Morissette

THE DEAL Following in the footsteps of some fellow artists, Morissette is working on a musical adaptation of her hugely popular album "Jagged Little Pill," which contains the hit songs "Ironic," "One Hand in My Pocket" and "You Oughta Know." She issued a statement says that she looks "forward to taking the heart of 'Jagged Little Pill' and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism."

THE MUSICAL "Fun Home"

THE DEAL Still no word on whether the Jeanine Tesori-Lisa Kron musical "Fun Home" will transfer to Broadway before the season ends. However, the Public Theater has extended its Off-Broadway run yet again, through Dec. 29. Other than perhaps the Globe Theatre's double bill of "Twelfth Night" and "Richard III," it's hard to think of any other show this fall that received as much universal acclaim.
