Natalie Mendoza, who suffered a concussion offstage during "Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark," returned to the troubled show Wednesday and found some new daredevil work to do. According to a source close to the production, director Julie Taymor has added a second-act aerial confrontation between Peter Parker and Mendoza's character, the villainous spider Arachne, in a giant web.

Mendoza was hit by an equipment rope during the first preview Nov. 28 and has not performed since Dec. 1. At the time, it was believed she would be back in the injury-plagued show last week.

Mendoza is the third casualty of the show. A dancer broke both wrists during flying rehearsals, and another injured his foot attempting the same trick.

The musical, which has a score by by U2's Bono and The Edge, is still a work in progress during previews. It is scheduled to open Jan. 11.
