THE DEAL The actress, who originated the role of Vanessa in "In the Heights" and received a Tony for her performance as Anita in the 2009 revival of "West Side Story," says she's quitting acting. In a long and very emotional blog post titled "Starting Over," Olivo essentially said she lacks the motivation to continue being an actor. "My abilities have always been bigger than my desire to share them," she wrote. She also noted that she had just split from her second husband.

THE DEAL The Broadway icon is moving back to Michigan, where she grew up, but first she'll offer one final week of performances at the Carlyle (where she also has lived for the past decade), from April 2 to 6. Titled "Elaine Stritch at the Carlyle: Movin' Over and Out," it will combine her characteristically acerbic anecdotes with various songs. If the $85 (at the bar) to $125 cover charge is too steep, you can rent the DVD of "Elaine Stritch at Liberty," her Tony-winning one-woman show.
THE OPERETTA "The Pirates of Penzance"
THE DEAL More than 30 years ago, the Public Theater staged a smashing revival of Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance" (led by a pre-famous Kevin Kline) at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park that later transferred to Broadway. The Public announced last week that it will present a one-night performance of "Pirates" at the Delacorte during its annual gala on June 10. At last year's gala, Kline and Meryl Streep headlined a staged reading of "Romeo and Juliet."
THE SHOW "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"
THE DEAL: The new bigraphical show based on the life of singer-songwriter Carole King will receive an industry reading next month, directed by Marc Bruni ("Old Jews Telling Jokes"). Its producers are hoping to bring the show, which will feature music industry figures such as The Shirelles, Dick Clark and Neil Sedaka as characters, to Broadway next season.
