This comes right off the heels of the Royal Shakespeare Company's all-black production of the play set in modern <a href="/topics//Africa">Africa</a>, which played <a href="/topics//Brooklyn_Academy_of_Music">Brooklyn Academy of Music</a> last month to great acclaim.

According to The <a href="/topics//Hollywood_Reporter">Hollywood Reporter</a>, <a href="/topics//Jake_Gyllenhaal">Gyllenhaal</a> and <a href="/topics//Chris_Pine">Chris Pine</a> are slated to join the cast of the upcoming film of "Into the Woods." It is assumed that they would play Cinderella and Rapunzel's self-loving princes.

 THE DEAL Even with the demise of "Smash," it appears that NBC still has a fond spot for Broadway. It was confirmed last week that the previously announced live broadcast of a new production of "The Sound of Music" starring Carrie <a href="/topics//Carrie_Underwood">Underwood</a> will be broadcast Dec. 5. No word yet on the other cast members or whether it will be filmed at a Broadway theater in front of an audience.
