Matthew Broderick has had to temporarily check out of "Plaza Suite" after testing positive for COVID-19. The actor, who co-stars with his wife, Sarah Jessica Parker, in the revival of the Neil Simon comedy, is expected to return to the show on April 15.

News of Broderick's diagnosis was announced shortly before Tuesday night's performance. "Matthew Broderick tested positive before today’s performance of 'Plaza Suite,' despite strict adherence to COVID safety protocols. A second test has confirmed the diagnosis," according to a statement released by the production. "Sarah Jessica Parker has tested negative and will perform this evening. Everyone wishes him a speedy recovery."

Playbill reported that Broderick's standby, Michael McGrath, will perform opposite Parker during Broderick's absence. "Plaza Suite' is scheduled to run through June 26 at the Hudson Theatre.

"Plaza Suite" is not the only show to be affected by the coronavirus in recent days. Over the weekend, it was announced that Daniel Craig had to temporarily bow out of "Macbeth" after testing positive for COVID-19. He is scheduled to return to the Shakespearean tragedy on Friday.
