Hold your horses! Megan Thee Stallion is about to make the leap to Broadway.

Producers of the hit show "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" announced on Thursday that the popular rapper and songwriter will make her Broadway debut as Zidler, the impresario of the Parisian night spot of the title, for an eight-week run from March 24 to May 17.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical' team is an absolute honor,” Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties [her fan base] to see a new side of me.”

Megan Thee Stallion is the first female to take on the role of Zidler, a role originated by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein when the show opened in July 2019. Others who have played the part include Tituss Burgess, Boy George and Wayne Brady. Bob the Drag Queen, the current Zidler, will be with the show through March 22.

"Moulin Rouge!," which won 10 Tonys in 2020 including best musical, has been one of Broadway's hottest tickets over the past six years. Earlier this month it was announced that the show would end its run at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on July 26, at which point, it will have played 2,265 regular performances and 24 previews.
