'Miss Saigon' returning to Broadway in 2017
"Miss Saigon" will no longer miss New York.
Producer Cameron Mackintosh announced Thursday that the current West End revival of the musical -- which originated in London in 1989 and ran here for nearly 10 years and nearly 4,100 performances -- would play Broadway from spring 2017 to January 2018.
Eva Noblezada and Philippines-born Jon Jon Briones will reprise their roles.
The 1991-2001 production earned Tony Awards for stars Lea Salonga, Jonathan Pryce and Hinton Battle, but generated controversy over the casting of the British Pryce as a Eurasian.
