Report: 'Cats' returning to Broadway
The musical"Cats," which ran on Broadway from 1982 to 2000 with the ad slogan "Now and Forever," is starting another nine lives. London's Daily Mail reports that composer Andrew Lloyd Webber intends to bring the musical back to New York. The show, currently in a West End revival starring Nicole Scherzinger (formerly of the girl-group Pussycat Dolls), won seven Tonys. The book is based on "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S. Eliot, who, despite having died in 1965, won the Tony for best book. A spokesman for the Shubert Organization, one of the original producers, had no comment on the revival.
