THE PLAY "Wolverine: The Musical!"
THE DEAL In light of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," it's not improbable to imagine an X-Men musical playing Broadway someday. In the meantime, "Wolverine: The Musical!," a five-minute parody video inspired by the upcoming Hugh Jackman film, as well as Jackman's musical theater abilities, has materialized on YouTube. It's done entirely with puppets, a la "Avenue Q," and incorporates music from "Phantom," "Hello, Dolly!" "Oklahoma!" "Chicago" and "Guys and Dolls." Oh, and best of all, Wolverine slices off Spider-Man's head.
 THE PLAY "Orphans"
THE DEAL Even though the Broadway production of "Orphans" closed weeks ago, the backstage drama concerning the termination of film actor Shia LaBeouf has only now come to a finish. Last week the producers released a statement saying a settlement has finally been reached between LaBeouf, who filed a grievance with Actors' Equity over his termination from the production. The producers said that "neither Mr. LaBeouf nor the producers was at fault" for what happened. The conditions of the settlement were not released.
 THE PLAY "Animal House"
THE DEAL A year ago, we reported that a musical version of "National Lampoon's Animal House" was in the works and that the rock band Barenaked Ladies had signed on to write the score. As recently revealed by The Canadian Press, Barenaked Ladies has been fired and replaced by David Yazbek, who wrote the scores of "The Full Monty" and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."
 WHO Idina Menzel
 THE PLAY "If/Then"
THE DEAL "If/Then," a new musical helmed by the "Next to Normal" team and starring Idina Menzel (who has not appeared on Broadway since her Tony-winning turn in "Wicked"), will open next spring at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre after it premieres in Washington, D.C. An original piece, "If/Then," explores a woman on the verge of turning 40 who moves to New York City to restart her life.
 WHO Anne-Marie Duff
 THE PLAY "Macbeth"
THE DEAL Anne-Marie Duff, an English television and stage actress who is relatively unknown in the United States, will make her Broadway debut as Lady Macbeth opposite Ethan Hawke in Lincoln Center Theater's upcoming production of "Macbeth." It begins performances in October. Complete casting has not yet been announced.
