TV's 'Bachelor' shows are making news
Suddenly, happily, there's a lot of "Bachelor" news out there:
THE NEWS: ABC is expected to launch the second season of "Bachelor Pad" with a three-hour telecast on Aug. 8.MY SAY: Way to overkill, ABC! Three hours of this? But wait . . . season 14 "Bachelor" flameouts Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi, who spectacularly disintegrated on national TV last July, are contestants. A promo for the upcoming show that aired on "The Bachelorette" Monday showed the pair still hurling vitriol at each other. "She's trying to hurt me so she can get the money," an angry Pavelka said, referring to the show's $250,000 prize. "It will not happen!" Girardi was just as wrathful. "I hate him!" she proclaimed. And did we mention their housemates include Girardi's current guy, Kasey Kahl? Maybe three hours isn't enough.
THE NEWS: "The Bachelorette's" Ames Brown will be a contestant on "Bachelor Pad," Entertainment Weekly reports.MY SAY: Brown, you'll recall, is the sweet-natured trust funder and portfolio manager who actually believed he'd find the love of his life on "The Bachelorette" -- until Ashley Hebert dumped him Monday. Now, he's throwing himself into this snake pit? Brown doesn't need "Bachelor Pad;" He needs "Dr. Phil."
THE NEWS: Hebert blogged at People.com Tuesday that she was "scared" J.P. Rosenbaum's family wouldn't be pleased because she isn't Jewish. "Religion does not matter to me, but I had no idea how they felt about it . . . " she wrote.
MY SAY: Ashley! Get a grip! This is "The Bachelorette." There are a lot worse things to be worried about. (See: Vienna and Jake.)
