"American Idol" is cutting to its final eight tonight, with Rihanna and David Archuleta performing; Ryan claims at the top there will be "shocking results," but given how often this show just makes things up who knows what that means.

Group sing starts with Lee Dewyze solo on stage, they're doing a Beatles medley; one by one the others come in, Aaron Kelly sounding light, Katie Stevens and Siohban Magnus in related black and white dresses.

It's an average group sing; when you sing snippets you can't build any sort of emotion, it's basically just an advertisement for the John Lennon/Paul McCartney songbook.

Then the 'American Idol' car commercial -- I think it's for Volkswagon? -- features a kaleidoscope theme, very trippy 60s/70s, one of the more boring ones they've shown.
