"Shark Tank" panelist Barbara Corcoran's biting humor didn't go over well with the hosts of "The View" during her appearance on Thursday's edition of the talk show.
The joke came about when Corcoran was discussing Emma Grede, the founder and CEO of denim brand Good American and the first Black female entrepreneur shark to enter the "Tank," with "View" co-hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro.
When Hostin started raving about Grede's size-inclusive jeans, Goldberg, 65, joked "Well, I have to try them," joking, "Will they fit this COVID butt?"
Corcoran, 72, replied "When you get finished with those jeans, and decide you don't like them, give them to me. I'm gonna make two pairs."
Goldberg didn't appear to be laughing. Navarro offered her support by taking aim at the floral print dress Corcoran had on. "Whoopi, let me just tell you something. Both Sara Haines and Jill Biden wore that dress already, on TV," Navarro remarked.
After the clip from the show went viral, social media took umbrage with Corcoran and praised Navarro. "Ana is that girl! Ride or die and I love her for it! @ananavarro said don’t you come for Whoopi! Barbara Corcoran went too far," tweeted one of Navarro's supporters.
Following the backlash, Corcoran issued an apology for her comments in a 20-second video on Twitter. "I just came back from 'The View' and saw my old friend Whoopi," Corcoran said. "As you well know, she has a phenomenal sense of humor and I've known Whoopi for years. I made a joke at Whoopi's expense and I now realize it wasn't funny. For anyone who I may have offended unintentionally, I just want to say I really am very sorry."
