Boomer TV: 'Dick Van Dyke' debuts (1961)
Today, we're gonna go back 50 years (yeah, I know it seems like yesterday) to the kickoff of the 1961-62 TV season.
And among the new shows that year was a Tuesday-night CBS comedy that debuted on Oct. 3 featuring a rubber-faced young comedian named Dick Van Dyke. Here's a rare clip of the Season 1 opening credits (with a sponsor tie-in) that, you'll note, does not contain Rob tripping over the ottoman.
