Burnell Taylor delivers 'tearful moment,' Paul Jolley forgettable on 'American Idol'
Burnell Taylor up next on "American Idol," doing Fantasia's "I'm Here." The lyrics help him come across as honest and vulnerable; he did nothing fancy -- just sang -- but you can't stop listening.
Keith Urban, who gave him a standing ovation, says he "believed every part" of it, loves his unique tone. Nicki Minaj calls him "one of a kind -- you were born to do this." Randy Jackson liked the "urgency" in his voice, calls it "great" -- "love you, love you." Mariah Carey called it "a tearful moment."
Paul Jolley next, doing Christina Aguilera's "Just a Fool." Just average at best for me, instantly forgettable, actually.
Urban asks him what genre he sees himself in, a wide-eyed Jolley says he wants to be in "pop country." Minaj calls it "solid." Jackson loved the start, not crazy about the end, says he was pitchy. Carey just rambles.
