Candace Cameron Bure, citing prior commitments to her “Full House” sequel and to Hallmark’s cable channels, is leaving “The View” after a little more than a year.

The actress, 40, best known as daughter Donna Jo “DJ” Tanner on the 1987-1996 sitcom “Full House” and the Netflix sequel series “Fuller House,” said Thursday on the daytime panel-discussion show, “It’s a little bittersweet for me today because I’m announcing that I will be leaving ‘The View.’ “

Saying, “It wasn’t an easy decision,” Bure explained that before joining “The View” for Season 19, in September 2015, “I had already had my commitments to ‘Fuller House’ and my work with the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries” channel, together for which she has done several TV-movies since 2013, including the “Aurora Teagarden Mystery” franchise.

“Because of the success of those, my commitments have become even greater with those shows,” she continued. “And the commute of going West Coast to East Coast” to New York, where ABC’s “The View” is produced, “every single week … has been tough on me and hard for my family as well, and I want to make sure that I am able to spend as much time with my children and invest in all the projects that I do to the fullest extent.”

She added, “I tried to be Superwoman, but I’m gonna not try anymore.”

Neither Bure nor ABC gave a date for her final show.

“On behalf of everyone at ‘The View,’ it’s been a pleasure working with Candace, a devoted mother, talented actress, and passionate co-host who never hesitated to speak her mind,” executive producer Candi Carter said in a statement afterward, adding, “She will always be a part of ‘The View’ family and we will gladly welcome her back to the show to support her with all of her endeavors.”
