Casey Abrams is up next on "American Idol." He decides to sing "Have You Ever Seen the Rain," with his bass. Oh jeez....

It starts super-cheesy and self-indulgent, complete with ridiculous blue screen graphics of falling raindrops behind him.

I liked Casey a lot at the start, but he's really lost his way -- his tone and voice are still good, but it's like he's trying to be what he imagines we want him to be. Some nice vocals as it goes on, but I don't know. I just don't like him.

Randy Jackson says "you did justice to that song," and "you're making the upright bass cool." Steven Tyler calls him a "true musician," Jennifer Lopez claims, to laughter, that she'd pay "top dollar" to be in the front row to see him and his bass.

I don't know. The judges are really in the tank for him.
