Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown, whose legal travails often have overshadowed his performing career, will guest-star on next week’s episode of the ABC sitcom “black-ish.”
Entertainment Weekly said Wednesday that Brown, 27, will play rapper Rich Youngsta, on whose advertising campaign Dre (Anthony Anderson) will work. But Dre’s wife Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) and mother Ruby (Jenifer Lewis) find that Dre’s efforts may be pandering to ethnic stereotypes.
Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault in 2009 for beating his then-girlfriend, pop star Rihanna, and last month a Los Angeles judge ordered him to stay 100 yards away from ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran after she accused him of physical and verbal abuse. Brown was arrested at his Los Angeles home in August after a standoff with police, following accusations he pulled a gun on a visitor.
