Clarissa may be about to explain it all to a new generation.

A reboot of Nickelodeon’s ’90s sitcom “Clarissa Explains It All” is in early development, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The reboot would again star Melissa Joan Hart, 41, as Clarissa Darling, this time as a mom to her own brood. The Sayville-raised actress would also serve as executive producer.

Mitchell Kriegman, who created the original series, also is in talks to write and executive produce the new version, The Hollywood Reporter says, noting that Nickelodeon declined to comment on the reported reboot.

The original “Clarissa” ran from 1991 to 1994 and starred Hart as a hip teen who often spoke directly to the audience about her problems with school, boys and her bratty younger brother. The title character was also known for wearing funky outfits like baggy T-shirts with a vest over leggings. “Clarissa” also was Nickelodeon’s first series focused on a female lead.

Hart followed “Clarissa” with an even bigger success, starring as “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” from 1996 to 2003.
