Burt  Reinhardt, the founding president of CNN, has died at 91.

Check out CNN's obit below. There were certainly many people who helped launch CNN - one of the foundation stones of modern cable, and, in fact, modern television. But Reinhardt was a key figure indeed. While Bob Wussler was the big strategic thinker who focused and channeled Ted Turner's blizzard of ideas, Burt was the one who put it into action. He was the quiet one at CNN -- seldom seen (I think he had some tiny corner office in the CNN center) and as unflashy as any human being could possibly be. He was all about the news -- and was an absolute believer in CNN's early mantra that News is the Star. That was certainly Ted's idea as well.
