CNN's Ali Velshi set to anchor weekday newscast
(AP) — CNN chief business correspondent Ali Velshi will soon be part of the "CNN Newsroom" anchor lineup.
CNN said Thursday that Velshi will host a two-hour newscast weekdays at 1 p.m. Eastern. He joins Kyra Phillips and Tony Harris, who each anchor earlier segments of the "Newsroom" block.
He will be followed at 3 p.m. by a new two-hour program hosted by Rick Sanchez. It's called "Rick's List." Sanchez currently anchors an afternoon portion of "CNN Newsroom."
Velshi is based in Atlanta and has been with CNN since 2001. He will continue as co-anchor of "Your $$$$$" ("Your Money") airing Saturdays and Sundays.
