Daytime Emmys: 'AMC' gets nods

"All My Children," about to be thrown under the bus by ABC, got a passel of nominations this morning for the 38th annual Daytime Emmys, to be broadcast live on CBS June 19. 

These Emmys will be particularly noteworthy, coming as they do, on the eve of destruction for the daytime soap industry. Why, at this rate, in a few years there won't be any nominees outstanding daytime drama series, or for lead actresses or actors in daytime dramas.

Seriously, it's that bad for the soap industry.

Interestingly, Alex Trebek and Pat Sajak will get lifetime Emmys for outstanding achievement. Good for them!  And deserved, but . . . ummm . . . are "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune" technically daytime shows?
