The Daytime Emmys - in an on-going crisis as the soap industry continues to shrink and shrink and shrink - announced nominations for the 39th annual awards, to be presented June 23  at t he Beverly Hilton. And call these nominations a bittersweet end for "All My Children," which picked up best show nod; Erika Slezak of "One Life to Live" was also nominated. Both series are now among the dearly departed.

And yes, fortunately, there are still enough soaps to keep the drama category afloat, thoiugh barely; "General Hospital" got a nod as well. The show has also long been rumored to be on the chopping block (ABC did renew) and if it goes, ABC won't have a potential single entry in this category for the first time in Emmy history. But enough with the doom and gloom! Regis Philbin got a nod, while Bill Geddie - Barbara Walters' longtime production maven (now running "The View") will get a Lifetime achievement statue.
