Deandre Brackensick doesn't wow with Billy Joel on 'American Idol'

Deandre Brackensick is up first on "American Idol" as the singers perform songs of Billy Joel. Brackensick sings "Only the Good Die Young" and guest mentor Diddy tells him it could be a hard song for him to sing, and tries to help him understand the motivation behind the song.

Brackensick's hair is flying loose, per Tommy Hilfiger's fashion advice. The show's getting a bit weighed down with all the people they've got giving them advice.

Brackensick's got a nice tone and some smokiness, but it doesn't make you wanna get out of your seat. It's a good start, though.

Jennifer Lopez says she liked his "laid-back vibe," mixed in with some harder moments. Randy Jackson gets the crowd booing, saying Brackensick "didn't wow me -- it was OK."
