Erica Rhodes goes from 'Barney' to 'American Idol' dominatrix
Dexter Ward up first, who unconvincingly tells us all "the show is over," that he's the next 'American Idol." Gasps out "If I Ever Find the Love Again" in an affected matter, he can't tell if the panel's exulting in agony or ecstasy.
"That looked like it hurt," says Randy. Gets panned, Neil for some crazy reason says, "maybe next time" (I guess he's thinking he won't be around to suffer). Although Simon does like his "good attitude and good smile" -- right after which Dexter is crying outside.
Neil tells us during a break he's surprised at how many people they've sent through -- given that we've seen two so far, that's cruel and unusual punishment.
Speaking of which, shapely Erica Rhodes is next, was on 'Barney' as a girl, wants to show us that she's grown up. Uh, I think that's pretty clear... comes out dressed in black leather with a bull whip. Simon makes me laugh out loud with, "it says here you used to be a dinosaur or something."
Randy wants her to sing something from 'Barney,' she busts out into a melodically pleasant, "I love you, you love me..." Heck, I'd put her through based on that. Then sings "Free Your Mind," very emphatically, complete with cracks of the whip.
She wants us to know that "Barney kids grow up," with Neil adding, "to be dirty little girls." Simon likes how she made an effort, everyone likes her voice and attitude, she's through with lots of dominatrix jokes.
Yeah, just when you think 'American Idol' has become predictable....
