Megyn Kelly, one of the rising-rising-rising stars of cable news, today got formal notification from Fox News that she's about to rise-rise-rise a little bit further: She'll get a prime time show when she returns from maternity leave; she announced in February that she is expecting her third child.

Now the questions: What time might she get? Could 10 p.m. be the next stop for Kelly? And is there even a possibility of some sort of co-hosting role — which seems unlikely.?

Here was the statement posted on Businesswire earlier this afternoon:

Kelly's rise to Fox prime was expected, though it had largely been the subject of speculation until today. CNN had earlier made a pitch to get her and Fox re-upped her in the spring so it was only a matter of time before today's news.

A New York Times story by Brian Stelter in May indicated that Greta Van Susteren might move aside for personal reasons: Her husband, John Coale who also represents her, was recovering from cancer surgery when the Times report ran told the paper she "would happily move to an earlier hour, perhaps sometime later this year."

Kelly's currently host of "America Live" weekdays 1 to 3.
