Paramount+ has officially greenlit a series order for the previously announced reboot of the classic sitcom "Frasier."

The streaming service gave no timeframe or plot specifics for the show, which it said last year would star Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane. No other cast has been announced.

When ViacomCBS launched Paramount+ in February 2021, Grammer, 67, said in a statement, "I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane."

The original series earned five Emmy Awards for outstanding comedy series during its 11 seasons on NBC (1993-2004). Grammer himself won four for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The original series also starred David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin and the late John Mahoney.
