They'll be there for you through at least the end of next year: Netflix has announced that the long-running NBC sitcom “Friends" will remain on the streaming service in 2019.
After creating a fan uproar by posting a notice on its web page for the show that "Friends" was leaving Jan. 1, Netflix changed its mind.
"The Holiday Armadillo has granted your wish,"the streaming service tweeted, referring to a costumed character Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) played in one episode for his young son Ben, and confirmed, " 'Friends' will still be there for you in the US throughout 2019."
The New York Times reported that Netflix paid $100 million to continue streaming the sitcom, citing two people with direct knowledge of the matter.
