To those who might shudder at the mere mention of a SallyAnn Salsano show ("Jersey Shore," "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila"), get your shuddering out of the way, and fast. Farmingdale-born-and-bred Salsano, frontwoman for the biggest show in MTV history. is about to strike again.
Her new show "Repo Games" (tonight at 8 on SpikeTV) is to "Jeopardy!" what "Shore" is to "Masterpiece Theatre." It's rough, and raw, and hosted by a pair of dudes -- repo men Josh Lewis and Tom DeTone -- who look like the bouncers at Club XS. They knock on the door of someone's whose car has gone into repossession. If the person can answer three questions correctly, "Repo Games" pays off their car loan.(A typical question: How many eyes does Cyclops have?)
We caught up with Salsano recently. We had questions. She had answers:
How have people reacted to having a pair of heavily muscled game-show hosts knocking on their door?
Some roll with it, others are ---- off, but most of them don't have the opportunity to pay off their loan, so we don't leave . . . without them being grateful. For a lot of people it is fun, and it sounds kind of crazy, but this is what kind of turns the corner for them.
Thoughts about the fourth season of "Jersey Shore" in Italy?
If I knew what was going to happen any day on that show, my life would be a lot easier. I don't know what happens and I live with the kids on that show. . . . But we go in, go out and no one gets hurt. That's my dream.
Some Italian clubs don't want the gang's business, while some Italians as well as Italian- Americans are very critical of this move. Thoughts?
It's . . . harmless. We go in there to have a good time and have a good relationship. Sure, maybe there's one club that doesn't want us but] it's the same thing in every city. I remember three clubs in Seaside Heights that did embrace us -- we went back there in season 2 to see them packed. All that noise put us on the map, and I can't thank that noise enough.
Has "Shore" jumped the shark, and is that why you've got those two spinoffs with Pauly D and Snooki/JWoww in the works?
No. It's all good in the hood.
Any chance Snooki/JWoww's show will be shot on Long Island?
I don't know. They haven't bought a house yet.
