“Glee” co-creator Ryan Murphy dishes to EW that Gaga’s “Born this Way,” her new single that has yet to premiere, will be performed in a
March or April episode focused on the character Dave Karofsky (Max Adler), whose bullying drove Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) to transfer schools during the first half of the season.

“I love that that song is an anthem,” Murphy says of “Born This Way,” which Gaga herself is slated to debut in February. “This show is by
nature optimistic and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don’t really know what that’s going to be, but I do know we’re going to do a whole episode that’s about that song.”

Murphy also revealed that “Glee” cast member Chord Overstreet will take on a Justin Bieber song in episode 13. His character Sam Evans will sing the unidentified tune to girlfriend Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron).

Murphy delivered the Bieber news while also debunking reports that the show was planning a entire episode devoted to Bieber’s music. “Those tributes are reserved for artists with big catalogs,” he said.

In another season 2 spoiler, Gwyneth Paltrow, who made a splash by
covering Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” in a November episode, will be back for two more episodes in the spring. “She’s coming back specifically to date Will Matthew Morrison,” Murphy says. “She’s coming back as a sex education teacher. Gwyneth and I are emailing, talking every week: What are we gonna sing? We’re trying to do something fantastic.”

“Glee” returns to Fox on Feb. 6 with a special post-Super Bowl episode, during which the cast will perform Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
