Haley Reinhart, Tony Benett fantastic; Tim McGraw, Scotty McCreery decent on 'American Idol'
Steven Tyler gets roasted next on "American Idol," of course a series of bleeps, profane moments and gibberish. He really went downhill as a judge; fantastic in the auditions, laughable in the finals.
Haley Reinhart sings with Tony Benett, "Steppin' Out With My Baby," it's amazing. I mean, her voice is just made for this, and you can tell he's jazzed to sing with her. One of the funnest celebrity pairings ever on the show, they even do a little dancing. She's loose and happy. Huge ovation from everyone.
Then they roast Jennifer Lopez, show all the half-creepy moments from failed male contestants. The funniest moments are when Randy Jackson pretends the compliments are for him.
Then they have Marc Anthony fake-reacting to it all.
TLC and Lil Jon bust onto the stage; they seem pretty dated, doesn't get much better when this year's finalists join them, a bit mismatched.
Then, Tim McGraw shows up to sing "Live Like You Were Dying" with Scotty McCreery; both are good, it's no gimmick. Scotty holds his own, even though he does seem a bit hokey. Song does feel like it's dragging, no magic moment here.
