Harry Houdini: 5 actors who played the illusionist on film, TV

The legendary illusionist-escape artist Harry Houdini gets another TV portrayal (this one by Michael Weston) in Fox’s “Houdini & Doyle” (premiering May 2), which focuses on his friendship with “Sherlock Holmes” author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Here are five other actors who have portrayed Houdini on TV:
PAUL MICHAEL GLASER He took time off from playing Starsky on “Starsky and Hutch” to star in the 1976 ABC TV-movie “The Great Houdinis.”
WIL WHEATON He followed up his performance in “Stand by Me” by starring as “Young Harry Houdini,” a 1987 movie that aired on ABC’s “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color.”
JEFFREY DEMUNN The future “Walking Dead” star played the grown-up Houdini in “Young Harry Houdini.” (He also played Houdini in the 1981 movie “Ragtime.”)
JOHNATHON SCHAECH Two years after his breakout role in the 1996 movie, “That Thing You Do!” he played the title character in the TNT TV-movie “Houdini.”
ADRIEN BRODY The Queens-born Oscar winner (“The Pianist”) starred in the 2014 History channel miniseries “Houdini.”
