Hollie Cavanagh singing Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" on "American Idol" as the contestants sing songs they wish they'd written.
She picks good songs for herself; inspired choice, has the audience hanging on her every lyric. Sounds sincere, passionate; and gets the emotion of the words across with her performance. She's grown so much since the start of the finals; not sure she had the "wow" moment tonight she needed to get out of fourth place -- kind of a subdued performance to end with -- but we'll see.
Steven Tyler says he thought it "fell a little short" in terms of showing off her vocal range. Jennifer Lopez says essentially maybe you haven't gone through enough in life to really hit that song; "bit too much vibrato, bit too much shaking in your vocal."
Randy Jackson wasn't crazy about the choice for Cavanagh, song "gave you nowhere to go," no giant vocal moments. Calls it "the wrong choice at the wrong time."
