Howard Stern to 'America's Got Talent'
We have a new judge on "America's Got Talent:" Howard Stern.
He made the announcement on his radio show this morning (see clip on the jump), and NBC just confirmed. The show will move to New York City to accommodate Stern's schedule. My verdict: Perfect casting for that Velveeta cheese-fest; he'll finally make it interesting.
The show begins taping early next year. Here's the news release with more details, mostly biographical that you already knew, but still ... can't blame NBC for crowing a bit. This is huge for it -- and for Stern, who's slipped off the national stage on his sat radio show.
Meanwhile, many many questions: Where will the show be taped? NBC is not saying although it would seem unlikely that a venue has not yet bee confirmed; taping begins in a month. Also: Could the Parents' Television Council attack on this hire gain traction? Hard to say, but PTC has - even for it - has issued a fire-breathing assault on Stern and NBC that (even for it) is particularly strident.
And this: Where will the show tape when it moves to Las Vegas, which is the single most important element of this show? NBC's not talking about that either.
