When Fantasia Barrino won "American Idol" season three in 2004, only Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson were judges. In the interim, Kara DioGuardi came on to make it a quartet; Abdul left, to be succeeded by Ellen DeGeneres; and now Cowell and DeGeneres (and perhaps DioGuardi) are all gone, reportedly replaced by Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

But those two aren't done deals, according to TMZ.com, which said Tuesday that contracts still haven't been signed nor have the show's producers put Lopez, Tyler and Jackson in the same room to see if they have the right chemistry.

"It's ridiculous not to road-test these people before committing. . . . It's insane," a source told TMZ.
