Jacob Lusk stands out in bright colors and a window-pane plaid jacket as he sings "Oh No, Not My Baby" during Carole King week on "American Idol." (April 27, 2011) Credit: Fox

"American Idol" is gonna give us a "solid" 90 minutes of the songs of Carole King, according to Ryan Seacrest . Nothing like a ringing endorsement as Jacob Lusk gets us started, with "Oh No, Not My Baby."

Sweet, pure tone pours out effortlessly. Oddly wearing a blue window-pane plaid jacket. Such a great showman. The song itself is only OK, but he goes big, keeps his energy up, jammin' by the end of it. Not bad, but first, so he had to be great.

Steven Tyler likes his dancing, "when you strut like that, that's the magic." Jennifer Lopez says you "killed it" by the end, Randy Jackson thinks there were some sharp spots but good energy. "We like to hear you sing . . . the scatting was incredible."
