Jacob Lusk is singing "Bridge Over Trouble Water" on "American Idol." The mentors were kind of ripping on him, unnecessarily I think. They suggested that he sing this instead of something "corny."

It's big, as always; pitch-perfect, emotional. But I don't know, for me, it's not magical like it's always been with him. I get the feeling he's singing this to stay on the show and liked it better when he was preaching, cause that's his thing, from his heart.

He's an unbelievable talent. He doesn't really need what this show has become this season.

Steven Tyler says "it's astounding to me how angelic you sing." He calls it "incredible." Jennifer Lopez is in full emoting mood and says she loved it. Randy Jackson says "I believe you, I listen to every word."

I don't know. Jacob is always great, but I just didn't think he was as great as he's been in the past. But he's still heads and shoulders above everyone else.
