James Durbin like a piano on fire on 'American Idol'

James Durbin is doing "Saturday Night's Alright" on "American Idol" and wants to run through the audience.

He's like a pro, so at ease hitting his spots, having a great time messing around with the crowd. He's a bit more restrained than usual to start. Now he stays on stage, starting to go all out, tosses the mike stand, stands up on the piano . . . after which flames spurt out.

Hits a high, long note to close. Eh, good but not great. It's more flash than substance from someone who can really sing.

"You brought the heat," says clever Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez calls it "a great performance by a great artist," and Randy Jackson echoes that sentiment.
