James Durbin out on the edge on 'American Idol'
The top five on "American Idol" are singing old songs and new, with Sheryl Crow as guest mentor. Up first is James Durbin with "Closer to the Edge."
He comes out in a leather vest and jeans and says he wants to hear the crowd "scream." High-energy song, he's bascially giving a concert out there. Vocally it isn't great, but it's the usual fun performance.
He doesn't have the vocal richness that Adam Lambert had. It's just OK for me. I usually like him more.
Steven Tyler loved it, Jennifer Lopez -- with a big flower on the left side of her head -- says "grab it, take it." Randy Jackson says this is the type of record you could make.
