Pluto TV on Tuesday confirmed a report saying the ad-supported free streaming service will launch two new channels devoted exclusively to the game shows "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune."

"Yes, there IS veracity to this" report in New York magazine's Vulture.com website Monday, a Pluto TV representative told Newsday. "We are very excited and will be issuing more details about the Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune channels closer to their launch on August 1, 2022."

The anonymously sourced report said Pluto TV had reached a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment, owner of the two shows, to launch the channels next month. Pluto then retweeted an unrelated freelance writer's tweet reading, " 'Vintage episodes' of JEOPARDY are coming to @PlutoTV on a 24/7 streaming channel. WHEEL OF FORTUNE gets its own channel, too — both starting Aug 1."

Pluto TV, a subsidiary of ViacomCBS, currently has channels devoted to "Deal or No Deal" and to the Bob Barker era of "The Price Is Right," plus the more varied game-show channels Buzzr, Game Show and Game Show Central. The streamer additionally announced on social media Monday night that it had just launched a "Let's Make a Deal" channel.

Vulture additionally reported that while the Sony deal is exclusive for free, ad-supported streaming services, Sony could, if it so chooses, negotiate separately with a subscription service such as Netflix, Hulu or even Pluto TV corporate stablemate Paramount+.
