Jessica Sanchez is bold on 'American Idol' with Aerosmith song

Jessica Sanchez's gutsy personal choice was "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith. She got Mr. Tyler's rare nod of approval for someone deigning to cover his work. (May 16, 2012) Credit: Fox
Sounding like the teen she is, Jessica Sanchez recounted he exciting visit to her hometown, San Diego, Calif.
She said the hype over her visit was a big change because she was "kind of a dork," before her "American Idol" experience.
For second round song, Sanchez chose Steven Tyler's hit "I don't Want to Miss a Thing."
The Aerosmith song, which last season's Lauren Alaina memorably sung with Tyler, has definitely been done before on the show. Still, she brings her own style to the song, and it sounds nothing like Tyler's rock and roll original.
Sanchez gets the only one that matters, Steven Tyler, to his feet. He compliments her rendition.
"You're choosing some really tough hills to climb tonight," Randy Jackson said. "This girl is bold."
The judges unanimously agreed she did the song justice.
